What is NG Wire™?
NG Wire™ is an app for professionals involved in the electrical construction industry. NG Wire™ utilizes popular National Electric Code® (NEC®) tables for general building wiring, conduit, and motor data. Users can look up values and also handle general and detailed conduit fill calculations, based on these NEC® tables. Visit the NG Wire™ page for more information.

Who should use NG Wire™?
NG Wire™ can be used by anyone that is involved in designing, installing, plan checking, or inspecting electrical systems governed by the NEC®. This typically includes Electrical Engineers, Electricians, Plan Checkers, and Inspectors.

How can I buy NG Wire™?
The NG Wire™ app is available for purchase and download at the iPhone App Store. Search for NG Orange™ or NG Wire™ and look for the orange icon.

What devices will NG Wire™ work on?
NG Wire™ is available now on iPhones and iPads. Android devices are not currently supported.

Which iOS version do I need to run NG Wire™?
NG Wire™ requires iOS version 17 or higher.

Is NG Wire™ available for Android?
NG Wire™ is not available on Android. If you would like NG Wire™ for use on Android, please visit our Contact Us page to let us know. If there is enough interest, we will release an Android version.

How do I get support for NG Wire™?

Does NG Wire™ include voltage drop, transformer, or fault current calculations?
NG Wire™ does not include voltage drop, transformer, or fault current calculations. Future NG Orange™ apps will cover these topics. Please check back periodically for new apps.

Why are there different versions of the NG Wire™ app?
There is an NG Wire™ app version for each tri-yearly publication of the NEC®, starting with the 2020 NEC®. Each State adopts a publication of the NEC® at different times and in different cycles. See the NEC Enforcement Page for a detailed summary of which States have adopted which publications of the NEC® and when future adoptions are planned.   

What is the most current version of NG Wire™?
The most current version of the NG Wire™ app is based on the 2020 NEC®.

When will the NG Wire™ app be available for the 2023 NEC®?
The 2023 version of the NG Wire™ app will be available soon after the official release of NG Wire™ 2020.

How often is NG Wire™ updated?
NG Wire™ is updated every 3 years, when the NEC® releases a new version of the code. The NG Wire™ app will be available soon after the new NEC® is released to the public. Previous versions of NG Wire™ will continue to function until all States have adopted a newer version of the NEC®. After a previous version is no longer adopted in any State, you will need to download and purchase a more current version.

What is my responsibility as a user of NG Wire™?
It is your responsibility to ensure that the data used from NG Wire™ is properly applied, accurate, and complete. NG Orange™ will not be liable or responsible for any errors or omissions related to the data and its use.
